Hot Ham and Cheese Party Sandwiches Recipe
These hot ham and cheese party sandwiches are made with French rolls, sliced ham, Swiss cheese, and a buttery poppy seed mustard spread. They are wrapped in foil and baked until warm, toasted, and melted.

Original Family Recipe
Ham and Cheese Sandwiches
From the kitchen of Linda Karen Soderberg Hodge / Janet Mae Soderberg Swank
- 2 Sticks Land O Lakes Butter ( 1/2 lb )
- 1 tsp of McCormick’s Poppy Seeds
- 2 tsp of French’s Original Mustard
- 1 tsp of McCormick’s Onion Flakes
- 3 lbs of Krakus Ham ( thin sliced but not shaved )
- 3 lbs of Domestic Swiss Cheese
- 4 packages of Milano 4″ French Rolls or 2 or 3 packages Pepperidge Farm Hearth Baked Style Twin French Bread cut into 4″ sections
Directions
Mix the butter, poppy seeds, mustard and onion flakes in bowl.
Cut buns in 1/2 and Spread mixture generously on both sides of the bun. Next add some ham and 1 slice of cheese to make the sandwiches. Wrap each sandwich in foil. Bake on a cookie sheet in a preheated over at 325 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes, until sandwiches are toasted and cheese is melted or freeze until ready to use. Great for tailgating food or a at home party.
Make-Ahead Tip
After wrapping the sandwiches in foil, freeze them until ready to use. Bake when you need a quick party food or easy meal.
